Program Description:

Program Dates: May 12 - 26, 2018

Description:

The focus of the program will be to explore the planning development, and operations of hospitality and tourism operations in sustainable ways. In the program, we will be exploring unique lodging venues such as historic castles and structures, culinary tourism activities, efforts to promote tourism, cultural and heritage tourism sites, and other tourism developments. The locations will be in Ireland and we plan to travel to multiple places within the country. The program will focus on hospitality and tourism operations in a variety of natural, sociocultural, and built environments where a balance between preservation, conservation, culture, and business is essential. Attention will be given to the triple bottom line of sustainability and how hospitality and tourism operations can balance economic, environmental, and socio-cultural sustainability.

Cost: $3,000

Accommodations & Meals:

Students will be housed in double occupancy hotel rooms.  Students are responsible for the majority of their own meals.

Eligibility:

Minimum 2.0 GPA
All SHL students are eligible and the courses are open to all ECU undergrads with the permission of the instructor.
