Program Description:

Program Dates: May 13 - 25, 2018

Description:

This program will expose students to criminal justice practices in Spain and England. This program is partnering with a host institution in Spain, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Autonomous University of Barcelona or UAB), which will host some sessions for the group. UAB is one of the few European universities that offers a degree in criminal justice, as opposed to the closely allied areas of criminology and (for European universities) law. The purpose of studying criminal justice in Spain is to be able to compare and contrast their practices with those of the United States. In London, students will compare the practices of criminal justice officials in England with those of the USA. In addition, many American criminal justice practices, as well as the American legal system, are rooted in those practiced by the English. Students will gain an appreciation of the history of American criminal justice as a result.
